No one is above serving.

This was a topic that really had two parts so I have split them into two posts. If you’re having a day where your kids are napping and you’ve got extra time, read them both! If it’s not one of those days, tackle part two on another day!

Part One:

No one is above serving.

Jesus washed the feet of the disciples. JESUS. SERVED. The one person who deserves to sit and be served, was a servant. Let me tell you Sister, if Jesus served others, then we absolutely must serve others. It can be easy to fall into the trap of an “I deserve {blank}” attitude. It is a slippery slope to let the “you do you” and the “speak your truth” society get into your head. As mothers, we give up a lot for our children and our families. In some cases we give up careers, hobbies or even passions, to raise a family. Society is not nice to the servant.

Let me tell you why I think that is. It’s supernatural to be a servant to others. It takes some serious Holy Spirit movement to be a true and humble servant. It’s not normal. People don’t get it, so they try to discredit and dispute it. The world will tell you to put yourself first, but Jesus calls us to “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves” (Philippians 2:3). Jesus was the ultimate servant.

While I believe in filling your cup so you can fill other’s cups, don’t get too caught up in what you think you deserve because friend, we all deserve death. We don’t deserve the grace, mercy and love God gives us through Jesus. That is a gift. PRASISE GOD. Let God fill your cup, let love fill your cup, so you can serve.

Bible Verse: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45).

Something to think about: When was the last time you served someone? What did you do? How did it make you feel? How did it make them feel?

Prayer: Father, help me remember that Jesus Christ was a servant. Reveal to me opportunities to serve those around me. Open my eyes to the needs of others before my own needs.
